Boundaries to clarify before real-world use

Why this mechanism is needed, and how far it may go

Real contributions such as care, maintenance, bearing responsibility and creating long-term value are often represented only indirectly through money, position, audience reach or visibility. This design seeks to make those facts more fully visible.

Who has authority to decide

Contribution records provide a basis for facts and feedback only. They do not themselves confer basic rights, personal worth, control over resources, general voting rights or governing sovereignty.

What it can do

Record real effort, creation, care, maintenance, responsibility and long-term externalities, providing fuller facts for trust, incentives, resources and governance.

What it cannot do

It cannot measure personal worth, the meaning of a life, purity of motive or obedience; produce an overall score; or automatically determine rights, resources, eligibility or political power.

How to test whether it actually works

Use records from multiple sources, appeals and correction, counterfactual comparisons, bias and manipulation tests, and comparison with real outcomes to test whether the records actually add useful information.

When to stop, exit or roll back

If records cannot be reviewed, serious systemic bias exists, manipulation is easy, basic rights are harmed or identities become fixed, stop the relevant recording or use and recalculate or revoke it.

How real-world results revise upstream design

Use results to revise the definition of contribution, recording methods and interfaces with the Resource Pool and governance.

Why this is a fundamental design

How a civilization sees people's real contributions determines how people understand themselves, how trust develops between them, and how institutions respond to long-term value. It also determines whether resources and power remain concentrated solely around wealth, positions, and control. Contribution value is therefore a foundational mechanism for recognizing and responding to value in a new civilization, not an auxiliary module of resources and governance.

Psychological balance and meaning

Psychological balance does not mean a system scores people's minds. It means repairing the persistent mismatch between real contributions and social recognition. A person's care, maintenance, responsibility, creation, and goodwill can be seen, understood, and supported; meaning no longer needs to be proved only through income, status, traffic, or winning and losing.

Fairness, justice, and incentives

Contribution value provides more complete facts for fairness, evidence of responsibility and consequences for justice, and recognition, trust, opportunities, and collaborative feedback for incentives that do not rely solely on money. It cannot determine justice on its own, but can prevent substantial real value from being erased before decisions are made.

Relationship to resources and governance

Resource pools and governance are important downstream uses of contribution value, not its entire purpose. Resource provision must still account for needs, basic rights, scarcity, and legitimate authorization. Governance judgments must still account for public legitimacy, the extent to which people are affected, professional responsibility, procedures, and correction.

Boundaries that must not be crossed

Contribution value is foundational because it breaks monopolies of money, power and visibility over value recognition, not because it compresses people into one score. It does not measure personal worth, life’s meaning, purity of motive or obedience; decide basic rights; or automatically create resource-use rights, votes, professional qualifications or governing sovereignty.

Special note: real contributions in any social position may be recorded

Contribution value is not reserved for unpaid, inconspicuous, positionless or powerless activity; it is not against markets, wealth, positions or power. Business, work, earning income, public communication, holding office, management and responsible exercises of power during launch and transition may also create recordable contributions. What matters is not whether conduct is mainstream, profitable, visible or socially positioned, but what value it creates, responsibility it carries, outcomes it brings to whom, harm it reduces, shared systems it maintains and long-term externalities it generates. Money, fame, office and power are neither automatic proof nor grounds for exclusion.

Continue from this work

This publicly presented theory, institutional design or concept explains purposes, causality, conditions, responsibilities, interfaces and risk boundaries. It does not establish practical feasibility for specific actors, resources, jurisdictions, responsibilities and users. Concrete engineering must be developed in the wider context once real conditions are clear.
