What should increasingly capable AI pursue?
After control, slowdown and alignment comes an earlier question: why is this goal worth entrusting to stronger intelligence in the first place? Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
Stronger AI, changing work, self-interest, risk and the possibility of choosing again.
Civilization Leap can begin with stronger AI, changing work, self-interest and competition, efficiency and risk, or whether the future remains open to correction. You do not have to understand the whole system first. Read one question, then decide how far to continue.

If there is no chance to repair a mistake afterward, how far upstream must correction move? Continued existence is the floor, not the final purpose of civilization. Read the English survival entry, When Rules Cannot Arrive in Time public description, and short essay on future choice.
How should we look after our interests as AI grows stronger? The current Chinese public book moves from the choices of two people running a studio to how society operates and why intelligence acts. It develops the central proposition while preserving refusal, tradeoffs and unanswered questions. The English reading text, eleven-question reading map and opening guide are available. This V1.2 reading edition’s English PDF and Word file remain unavailable; earlier E3 editions retain their separate identities.

A machine’s obedience does not establish that the human goal it follows is sound. Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
As usefulness becomes cheaper, a human being’s place cannot rest only on what machines temporarily cannot do. Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
AI affects income, but also a person’s sense of value, relationships and place in shared life. Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
Self-interest itself is not the problem. The issue is its position as the default logic from which goals and purposes are generated. Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
The deepest danger is losing the chance to choose again after an error. Read the short essay · about 3–5 minutes
Browse the eight public thought essays These short essays are cognitive entrances to the complete system, each organized around a causal chain, a central judgment and a continuation—not summaries of the theory.
If AI begins participating in the generation of its objectives, what makes an objective worth continuing? This is a question upstream of control, slowdown and alignment. Read the available Purpose Generation research entry. Continue to the English public explanation and short introductory essay.
If a step does not hold, you need not accept what follows. The public questions open the argument; the causal map connects it.
People must protect their own existence and interests, yet cannot live independently of others and shared systems. Competition, cooperation, organizations and institutions continually emerge.
Competition, self-protection, efficiency and control enter systems that are stronger, faster, more reproducible and potentially authorized to act in the world. Human choices can also become examples from which future AGI learns.
The question is not whether gradual reform has value. It is whether repair within existing structures is sufficient when the window before irreversible harm keeps narrowing.
It preserves self-interest while changing the prior logic of goal and purpose generation. Before a goal is fixed, relevant others, shared consequences, irreversible risks and future conditions of correction must already be able to enter and genuinely change candidate purposes.
Pre-institutional language, contribution and resource facts, Human-COS, CCM, Purpose Generation, AGI-COS, CI-001, the Common Window, Spark and Nebula address different causal positions. They cannot substitute for one another.
Controlled trials and feedback from reality must examine effectiveness, limits, failure modes and side effects. Validation must allow reality to reject the theory. Trials must allow failure, exit, compensation, rollback and independent assessment before mechanisms are expanded.
More reliable security, freer work and contribution, a more genuine experience of being needed, trustworthy relationships and shared life with participation, choice and exit are the practical destination.
Protect continued existence as the floor; pursue freedom from survival insecurity, happiness and more meaningful lives, while preserving an open future and the ability to choose again.
Civilization Leap does not ask people to abandon their interests. It challenges the assumption that “it benefits me” automatically suffices to justify a goal. Self-interest remains legitimate; others, the shared world and the future must enter before the goal is fixed.
Readers do not have to begin with engineering. Projects provide workable, correctable interfaces that others can continue developing.

The five-volume corpus explains why change is necessary and which boundaries must not be lost. A Living Civilization explores how a new civilization operates, how ordinary people live and how it gradually takes shape.
