As machines perform more functions once carried by people, the question is not merely whether jobs remain, but whether people can still feel needed, seen and able to have a future. Volume I begins here: if civilization cannot free the weight of human life from dependence on functional scarcity, stronger technology may deepen displacement and antagonism.
Node: M1 / M4 / M7
Evidence role: Volume of the theoretical framework
Starts from people's place in society, being needed, and the old social contract, supporting M1 civilizational motivation, M4 respect for actual self-interest, and M7 the relationship between work and being needed.
Civilizational motivation and the fracture of the old social contract: why the contract linking being needed, labor, and social standing is becoming unstable, and why a person's significance cannot be determined by the scarcity of their function.
